big cities in a nutshell

shielding people in bright suits and garments,
aimlessly flaunting each other's golds
beneath a comely laburnum's sway,
queue of cars trapped in one moment,
since the road is where they grow old
on the sidewalk, a young girl is running away
"i'm broken," and they no longer her parents
now she's looking for a dainty palm to hold
not far from there, waves of plastics adorned the seaway
with children hunting to keep their family from more torment,
wondering if the herds in buildings would save them from the cold
